My main takeaway from the Mrs. Loring chapter is that the affair with Mrs. Loring is almost assuredly bullshit, but there WAS probably another woman (allegedly): Judith Verplanck. This is the shit I'm listening to this book for.

We were flagging a bit once the American Revolution started but things are looking up. Im here for salacious rumors and torrid affairs, after all

I still say someone should keep this one in their back pocket. If they can adapt Washington's Spies they can adapt this one (and hopefully it would be a banger)

I think I'm gonna stand by this for the whole book: if Netflix ever runs out of Bridgerton to adapt, it should adapt this one next.

I am super hyped for Elizabeth Loring making an appearance... But now I know that Fanny, Sir William's wife, fainted when she heard of Bunker Hill and I feel terrible for her. I knew that Howe was married and I am happy that someone is finally writing about his wife.

18 pages in and I am already in love with this book.
Also already kind of planned a saga on the Howes of the early 1700's but that's just me

I understand the need to explain the fact that women's stories have been neglected, but it is tedious to be reminded of every inequality that existed between the sexes in 18th century England. (The Prelude was awful.) It would also be more pleasant if Caroline Howe's virtues weren't constantly being hyped. Let the reader figure some of this out.
