Status Updates From Letter to a Young Female Ph...

I’m a little unsure about this. I thought it would feel more like a heartfelt letter to young female physicians, but it ended up centering quite a bit on personal stories about wealth and privilege and body image, which is not what I was expecting at all

“I wonder whether, just as we take recertification exams every few years, we might be required, at intervals, to rewrite our medical school admissions essays, to articulate at each stage of our careers just what sort of doctors we aspire to be.“

No matter how many times I rewrite it, it always begins the same:
“And whoever saves one (life) - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.” (5:32)

I’m at a point on this path where the weight of responsibility sits heavily on my shoulders - not in a crushing way, but in a way that reminds me just how much this profession demands. At the same time there’s a quiet sadness in knowing that only about 30–40% of my batch are women, and I know exactly why it’s that way :(

I think this book will heal something in me, or at least I wish
