STORY ARCHETYPES: The book is comedy because in Dork Diaries, it's full of high school drama. The main character Nikki Maxwell, and the high school bully Mackenzie fight over the popular boy Brandon. The book is full of romance and rivalry, fighting for one boy. It's a comedy book because its funny how you see how fictional characters fight, when it also relates in real life.

SUMMARY: The main characters in the book are Nikki and Brandon, who are in high school together. In 2 weeks it is prom, and Nikki wants Brandon to ask her, but is scared because Mackenzie also wants him. The story is told in first person, like a diary. Nikki does everything she can to make Brandon recognize her while Mackenzie already has him hooked, yet Brandon still chooses Nikki for prom.

VISUALIZE: I can visualize the feelings that are going on in Nikki's head. It is their high school dance, an she wants Brandon to ask her. A lot of emotions are going on with being scared, nervous, and excited. I can picture the drama going on like it is a real movie. I pictured a scene in my head when Brandon goes and talks to Mackenzie. It was really well written I could picture the whole scene in my head.
