That about the newborns is horrifying. I wish they hadn't included it.

I enjoy listening to Gamma learn about what he can do, his limitations, and emotions

The tension along Gamma's quest is good for compelling the story forward and keeping things interesting. The word choices are excellent, most evocative, and Gamma's experiences feel real to me.
There are some grammar mistakes. I don't like Katie; I'd not have hesitated to end her. I do like the Chancellor, though perhaps that may be an unpopular opinion.

This book is somewhat enjoyable. I do enjoy the worldbuilding. It is told simplistically in an easy-to-follow manner without being patronising.
