Status Updates From Magritte in 400 images

Now this is an art book. One photo per page, taking up the page. The book is full of them. If only the book was larger format but it is already very thick so it would be unwieldy if it were much larger.

Lol. His Vache Period is just trolling the French with confounding, intentionally shitty paintings. Love it. Punk before punk, a middle finger to the artistic establishment. I didn't mind his sunlit period as much as I though I would while reading about it. There's some good stuff. Including an owl with a pipe looking out a window. Good stuff. Hard to say if Magritte or Turner is my favorite artist... or Brueghel.

Magritte has long been a favorite of mine and this book is a treasure. I know that he is on record saying that his titles are poetic and not literal, but they definitely are provocative for me when it comes to interpreting his paintings. They just stir something in me. Never a dull moment and always a brain-searing image.
