Finally reading this! I'm having fun noticing all the little parallels to Middlegame and Roger and Dodger. This is really making me want to reread it. Also caught a reference to Wayward Children which I was not expecting but was neat.

Oh uh ok they didn’t fall into water, they fell into air. This author needs to figure out how to describe stuff.

Ok it’s pretty good-basically just a more surreal wizard of oz (magical secret land, quirky magical characters who help or hinder the heroes, even a brick road). But the writing could have used some editing in the sense that much of the action is confusing. Someone just got pushed and fell. Apparently they fell into water, though it just says they fell. Huh?
