Jeg liker godt den nesten novelle-aktige måten han skriver romaner på, inn og ut av huer på forskjellige personer. Nå i midten av boka er han oppi fem forskjellige, Francis, Lucy, Martin, Hunter og Olivia.

Mhm.
Veldig annerledes enn bøkene hans om Melrose. Mer saksorientert, mindre personlig. Jeg må lese litt mer før jeg veit om det passer meg.

I don't like how the abbot is made a figure of fun. This last eighty pages have been less well structured than the first - the metaphors are a bit more clunky and the characters are just a bit on the mean side even as they are extolling each other's kindness. Really cannot like Hunter so this relationship with Lucy is annoying. Why do male authors always find unforgiveable behaviour ok if the character is a man?

Absolutely luscious writing. Living inside Francis's brain is a real treat. This is writing for philosophers though. I don't know how anyone without that background would enjoy St Aubyn's blue lego whale thought bubble. It must seem completely out there. And Shrodinger's cat!
