Am I reading a babysitters club book about Valentine’s Day in the middle of June? And loving it?

The subplot is Scout is FINALLY leaving the Brewer-Thomas household, and Andrew's not coping with it because everyone has cuddly pets except him. He keeps threatening to mess up Scout's training, which is stressful to read. Kristy (the book's clear MVP) talks him through it, and David Michael tells him he can help take care of Shannon, but I still feel like Watson and Elizabeth totally dropped the ball somewhere.

Abby's main thing always seems to be how separated she is from the rest of the BSC, too (except in Super Specials). Maybe I should take how much she connects with Kristy in this one to be the resolution on that front?

Actually, this is kind of a weird one to end Abby's life on-- She states she's still not super close with the BSC even though they're her friends and she can count on them, but other than that... I have to wonder how abrupt the cancellation of this series was, because there's no sense of finality here. Maybe I just feel like there should be because Mallory's story just ended in the last one?

Meanwhile Abby alienates all the other members of the BSC except Kristy with how much she doesn't want to go to the Valentine's dance, which does lead to a lot of nice moments developing her friendship with Kristy where Kristy's patient and reasonable. So it was good stuff for Kristy, and nothing that bad from Abby, but the book itself was just... not particularly interesting, I guess? And Abby's last book, too.

I didn't really have any thoughts on this one... The plot's pretty cut-and-dry-- Abby can't stand Valentine's Day and thinks everyone gets too goopy; some guy named Ross asks her out and even though she says no, he keeps leaving her gifts; turns out Anna likes Ross, so Abby tries to fix them up, but Ross mixes them up and feels humiliated; Abby apologizes and he goes out with Anna instead.
