Status Updates From Openings: Poems

Section 4 of "To a Siberian Woodsman" reminds me, stylistically, of Khalil Gibran's The Prophet. I like it.

Berry is blunter than most poets I read, and his imagery is simpler, yet he still conveys great depth. His topics are rather limited, but in this case, it works--his book has a strong unifying theme of peace and nature. I'm really enjoying this collection, as it's the first time I've read more than one or two of his poems at a sitting.
