Status Updates From All American Boys

So far I am enjoying this book but I am a bit confused on what type of school Rashad attends. "which was what they called 'uniform days'" (Reynolds 6). Does he attend a private school? Why do they only wear uniforms on Fridays?

This book started off sounding like a big poem book, but it was just a stupid hook to draw the reader in. 9 pages isn't a whole lot of time to be able to write a reflection but so far, I've learned that Rashad (the main character) is always being told by his dad that he should be like him and join the army.

I like this book so far because it is interesting and makes you wanna know if he goes to the army and what happens because he isn't very smart. "he stays out of trouble and he is a decent student" (Reynolds 8).

SETTING: The setting of the book is a hospital room where Rasharad is healing. It is beige and has an outdated TV. I know this because Rashard says on page 159, “Ya man, this boring old room with a broken TV is my home for another few days.” This shows the book is currently located in the hospital.
