IoT could increase inequality by putting the non-connected at a disadvantage.
Robots and automation could replace many people’s jobs.
Being constantly connected could distract people from life tasks.
Of course there is concern of personal data leaking.
Things like drones and 3D printing could be used for crime and terrorism.
A global network is difficult for legal systems to adapt to.

We are nearing the 4th industrial revolution.
Technologies like VR, AR, 3D printing and smart members have made all industries more efficient and productive.
Data and digital twins allow the things like engines to be analysed for faults.
GPS allows tracking.
The network evolves with fog topologies.
There are also ethical problems:
Hacking and random ware
Errors causing damage.
Humans becoming lethargic.

The development of IoT tech in devices has greatly improved them, such as smart TV’s.
Consumer technology has advanced rapidly, now we have phones and stuff.
An automated home is now a real and possible concept.
The IoT is now used for health, money management, public transport and purchasing of items at stores, completely changing the way we live our lives.

Location tracking allows the IoT direction.
Actuators (motors) allow automatic actions based on data.
Gateways and messaging middleware help communication the light true IoT.
5G provides better latency, range and density, so it’s a big deal for the IoT.
We do need standards though also everything is just a mess.
Reliability is important so people don’t die.
We also have to put data into context to work best.
