That's a "tall drink of water." At least he doesn't have a familiar gate. Though I'm not sure a talking drink of water is much better. ;)

Yep, that's what she's doing, using their formal names, which nobody ever calls them, for their POV chapters and their nicknames for their non-POV chapters. That’s not only completely unnecessary and annoying, but it makes the POV character feel distant and a little closed off, which neither of these characters actually are. That’s the opposite of what you want to accomplish when you go into a character's head.

Two pages-long sex scenes in the first three chapters. *skip*skip*skip*

I hope this doesn't continue like this.
