Alex Shrugged is 25% done

I love the series, but I had trouble getting involved in this book. I am about 25% into it and it is finally getting interesting. The story itself is structured as journal entries. I don't like that either. Seems lazy on the author's part. I keep rewriting the scenes in my head as a narrative.
