The division are now heavily engaged in the fighting. Casualties are heavy, especially amongst officers and NCO's. Progress forward has been minimal.
It's now August and after an horrendous July with horrific casualties the 53rd are able to break out of the Normandy beachhead.

Finally on 14th June 1944 the 53rd Welsh Division landed in Normandy. The time was now for the division to show it's worth.

I like this book but there are too many (unexplained) abbreviations and the author spells most Dutch placenames wrong or uses the (wrong) French equivalent.
