finally reading the book i bought in panic after watching last of us season one in 2023

reading this so soon after finishing The Light Eaters is perfect, really, and this book is awesome so far

Trees communicate using fungi. There are over 1.2 million different fungi and only 20,000 of them create a mushroom. It seems like if you wanted to start life on other planets from scratch, you would introduce a shit ton of fungus to the planet and weight a long time. Some of that fungus would survive and evolve to multiple species if given enough time.
