Status Updates From Sacred Pathways

Welp the contemplative description made me cry so maybe I was wrong and also Gary's gotta calling me out:

"Contemplatives should spend time acknowledging that "earthly" things carry the glory of God and can bring us close to God just as much as being alone on our knees in prayer"

Welp I thought I knew my spiritual temperament but then the description of the contemplative made me cry cause I felt so seen...so maybe I was wrong 😆

trying not to slow down cause I just know I'll get bored, so good tho

Ah the traditionalist temperament makes me a liiiiittle uncomfy but I think he did a great job of describing it. I appreciate the fact that he acknowledges that for some people it can be a stumbling block or a distraction...I think that might be me lol thanks Gary for a greater respect for that perspective tho!

I'm honestly so thankful for and equally humbled by his thoughtful and biblically grounded exposition of the temperaments. He's so unifying while not straying from biblical truth and I'm ABSOLUTELY here for it. He provided evidence and support for his claims and I can't really argue with it (although I haven't really tried lol) So far I'm pretty sure I'm a naturalist temperament...but we shall see...2 down 7 to go.

just keeps getting better...I also appreciate his note about how (no matter the temperament) every believer should exhibit the four traits of worship, adoration, belief, and discernment (that's definitely misquoting but it's something like that). Which means there isn't space for the enthusiasts to claim they do not need to have an intellectual understanding of their faith etc.

Gosh, where has this book been all my life.

There's too many good things to even write down a quote...you just gotta read it.

I appreciate the thought behind this book. I agree with maybe 65-70% of it.
