This book is really good and also so much of it applicable to real life too — not just a particular kind of work. Reading the news can be just as heavy as working in the field and I think a lot of us are forced to live in an “on” state all the time

One thing I do love about books that come to educate you is the way they weave in real stories and experiences to further your connection with the work. I could understand how oppression and systematic factors could burn a person out but reading the story of the one woman who was an ER nurse and a med-evac nurse and caring for her mother was so moving and grounding. I’m glad she found her way back to compassion.

Okay, I’m getting through this faster than I thought and it is pretty good so I’m optimistic
