‘Entering a situation with a "mind of don't know" privileges process over outcome. The focus on process as an art medium is not restricted to socially engaged artists, but it does provide them with a useful vehicle for exploring the daily life of ordinary people. Process privileges time and relationships, giving activist artists a way to shape the non-traditional aspects of what they do.’

“If a job helps us in our understanding both of ourselves and of the world around us, then it is, for us, samma ajiva (right livelihood) - no matter how futile and crazy it may seem to our friends and neighbors.” pg 83

On the Kay Larson essay: I like the acknowledgement of the kinetic in installation art. I wonder if we focus too much on the framed, static art object and not the constant flow of energy in any given art experience.

Very fortunate to stumble upon this collection at Myopic Books in Chicago. I'll never look at Duchamp the same again!
