I think I’m done with these stories. They are very good but very dark. I got up to and including Woodrow Wilson’s Necktie (nearly half way)

A Shot From Nowhere, another reflection on mortality. Reminds me of that one Raymond Carver or Raymond Chandler story about meat and flies and Mexico.

Enjoying stories about careers, especially related to writing. Where The Action Is is one of thsoe stories, where it seems like when it's up it's stuck. Just need that one big break. But requires consistency and hard work

Under A Dark Angel's Eye, The Stuff of Madness, The Button. All stories about getting revenge. None really stuck though, just sudden deaths and murders. Ripped off, embarrassed, unlucky – but the only trend I'm really seeing is resentful men.

The titular story, 'Under A Dark Angel's Eye', not really impressed, but the concept of that deception was really interesting. Perhaps not utilised as well as it could've.

Woodrow Wilson's Necktie & A Curious Suicide are some good ones – getting closer to Strangers on a Train with the senseless murderers and new wives. The former is Charles Bruno's perspective, and the latter is much closer to Strangers on a Train, being Guy Haines' more rational, impassioned murderous rage.

First kinda bad story: Not In This Life, Maybe The Next. Woman has little murderous guy appear in her house. Cries of Love and The Trouble with Mrs Blynn are more stories and people feuding and weird anxieties surrounding loneliness, aging, and death.

'A Dangerous Hobby' – just insane people doing insane things. I liked the twist of this one.

'How do you know so much?' they would ask him, fascinated by his explanation of the failure of the Gallipoli campaign in the First World War.
