“Instead of listening to cues that you are hungry, you wait until you are “allowed” to eat. This creates distrust between you and your innate body wisdom. We don’t do this with any of our other bodily signals. Imagine having to pee and saying, ‘dang it, I can’t pee until noon because I’m intermittent peeing today.’”

I’m a bit confused by the author’s claims that BMI is a totally made up measure that shouldn’t be followed (which I do agree with), because a few chapters later, she uses her enneagram as an explanation of why she is the way that she is. If you’re going to call out made-up measures of self-definition, don’t follow it up by defining yourself with a made up personality quiz.
