I’d not heard of Doug Peacock until ashamedly recently, but he seems cut from the same cloth of that eco-renegade Southwestern writer-outdoorsmen set I know mostly by way of Ed Abbey, Jim Harrison, and Charles Bowden. This is my first Peacock but I love the man already; while he’s the model for George Hayduke of Abbeyite lore, so far Doug reads as more nuanced—even tender—than Hayduke, though just as brave.
