Status Updates From Heir to the Sundered Crown ...

And.....drum roll that line that needs to be banned henceforth. Can we ditch the letting out of a breath that .... didn’t know they were holding.

This is a late update. Despite an initial rough start and seeing such mixed reviews, I’m pleased that plot wise the development is good. It is quite dark in terms of violence. Not quite what I expected. Fortunately the characters are nuanced enough to keep reading.

But not to be mean, the typos are distracting.

First impressions : this is obviously a debut book. Lots of telling with multiple POVs. I’m hoping this comes together. So far, it seems to be a mashup of usual fantasy tropes but quite dark with a bit more gore than I was expecting.
So far there is unrest after the assassination of the royal family with magic being confined to one city.

So far the writing could do with a bit of tightening up, but it's a fantasy with classic themes I know I like, so I am carrying on with it for the moment in the hopes that it will suddenly pick up :)
