“What Elyan had done below in the Place of Ways was magic strange and wonderful, magic no one had dreamed of let alone performed, and the treatment of his condition was as much a mystery as how he had managed it.”

Oh Elyan you wonderful man

“A good king cares for his people,” he answered, “but a good man cares for all people. To be a good king, I rather think I must first be a good man.”

Oh Elyan 😭😭

“Siphon the Incuna,” Elyan said flatly. “Have you gone mad? Siphon it into where?”

poor elyan is always stressing over briony and her plans 😭😭

ELYAN I KNEW ITTTTT

I think they’ll come back…

“their faces shockingly impassive for the laughter we had shared. Beside them was Braesor, whom I’d once found pleasant and thought a friend. Our eyes met, and he averted his own, but not before I saw discomfiture upon his face.”

I liked them. Glad to know they’re not 100% terrible.

“And now you shall answer for them. Guards!”
The door opened, and the heavy footfalls of armored men approached my chair.
I had failed.”

YES WELL DONE BRIONY WELL DONE. TRULY YOU HAVE THE BRAINS OF A MASTERMIND.

“You’re nothing more than an escaped criminal who came into my kingdom uninvited, begging for my aid. And when I received you graciously and made you guests in my home, you exploited my kindness and betrayed me with crimes most vile.”

I hate him but his half right

“It was a star, a star of gold and diamonds, the very same that Isri had woven into my red curls the night of the ball. The one I’d lost.”

Well done Briony, well done.

Great job Briony, no plan just falling headfirst into trouble when you should stop and THINK. Goodness how on earth is Elyan in love with you????

OF FREAKING COURSE HE SHOWS UP

Oh for goodness SAKE

I could not have all that I wanted; neither could I choose.
And so, I said nothing.

“I am not responsible for the actions of men and women long dead, and I will not stay here to die for their crimes."

THANK YOU ELYAN. IS HE THE ONLY ONE WHO HASN’T FORGOTTEN THAT THEIR HOME IS BEING RAVAGED BY EVIL???????

There’s less than 130 pages and they haven’t even found the cave, how on earth is this going to get solved in 130 pages 😭??

Poop is about to hit the fan isn’t it 😩

“But I am glad to have a final word with you as well, for I must bestow credit where it is due. No man has ever refused me as you did.”
