Having seen the film, and the other films written by DeLeeuw: Oh, this isn't some Nathen Ballingrud thing where I was wrong about the guy from one piece of their work, DeLeeuw's proses are fine, but he is a shitty writer.

Maybe that's why the movie cuts out the first 5 (of 15) chapters, lol.
