Status Updates From One to Watch

I’m halfway through and it’s super cringy and dated. It’s giving 2010 vibes so I was very surprised to look at the title page and see that it came out in 2020. I’ll probably finish it since I own it (My reading goal this year is actually to finish all my thrift store impulse buys)

The vitriol against women’s bodies the author portrays is…intense, to say the least. The question is: does it serve a purpose? I did notice this is actually labeled as fiction, not contemporary romance. In my head, the audience picking this up, like myself, wants to see a plus size woman live the Bachelorette fantasy. ~WE~ already know about all the horrible things that can be said—so why were they said?

I want to say Bea is lame for being hung up on some guy she barely even had anything with…..but unfortunately it’s like looking in a mirror 🥴
