I’m not quite sure if I got this book from a stuff your earbud Day or a promotion that a bunch of LGBTQIA authors put together a couple months ago.

My interest didn't wane, but, rarely do I read a mystery in which almost nothing is tied up. One big thing is solved, but, I guess there is an arc over the books, because there are more loose threads here than a frayed rope!

Um. Still hugely enjoying for writing and MCs, but… this bad guy makes no sense and is a MASSIVE coincidence. 🙄😞

Chapter 16: oh right. That’s what irks me about this narrator. When he describes a physically attractive jerk character, his voice gets a little sleazy/innuendo-y as if implying the MC looking at the guy finds him attractive. Eww. Not cute.

Chapter 13. What?! Lemme get this straight. Niall is bored. Noses in by questioning Y. Realizes bad idea. Now …this? THAT fast? Would Y bother? 🤨🧐 (yes I am still entertained. Majorly skeptical, but entertained.)

2 hours in. The cover on the audiobook is wrong, but, same book soooo. I'm really enjoying this! Michael Dean narrating again, huh, guess I enjoy him when he focuses on plot and not innuendo. Very character focused, small town/island setting, murder mystery, local sheriff MC, returning-but-considered-an-outsider MC who's also a police detective. Strong tension from one's past crappy treatment of the other when teens.

If a person had never been okay, how did they get there?
How dare this book squeeze tears out of me. I must be feeling overly sensitive tonight.
