Status Updates From The Two Isabellas of King John

DNF...not because this book is so terrible (it's unnecessarily puzzling and dry, but I intended to persevere), but because of personal circumstances which have made it impossible for me to concentrate on any reading, even magazines, for the last couple of months.

So .. 65 pages down and nothing remotely resembling anything close to a biography on either women - just a lot of academic twaddle and assumptions with the occasional mention of either one or both. A lot of "concepts" being explored but not a lot substance so far.

Arrived at chapter 3. So far I haven't come across a single bit of information about either of the Isabella's yet, but the author is constantly going into the tiniest and most irrelevant details of things that may or may not have influenced these queens' upbringing and childhood. Ugh...

First two chapters have almost nothing about either Isabelle, which is mostly becuase there’s so little contemporary info which makes 70 odd pages dubious. It’s a lot of “what we think we know about medieval women and queens with vague reference to the purported subjects of the book” and I don’t like it. Also, meandering.
