Status Updates From The Chalk Man

“It’s not a bad place to retire to. On the other hand it’s not much to show for 40 years of work. Sometimes I think everything we try to achieve for in life is pointless. You work hard for your family but when you retire the big family home is a prison gathering dust. The kids have their own families with their own family BBQs. You downsize until you’re in a single room and can’t wipe your own bottom.”

“Never assume. Look beyond the obvious. We assume things because it’s easier. It stops us thinking so hard usually about things that make us uncomfortable. But not thinking can lead to misunderstandings, tragedies.”

“I sit down in a pew near the rear of the church. It was nearly empty. Predictably. People have for other places of worship now days: bars, shopping centers, tv, virtual online worlds. Who needs the word of God when the word of some reality tv star will work just as well.” Sadly, that’s true for some.

“I always thought of angels as serene and calm. But the protesters were angry and red faces. I suppose they thought they were doing the right thing for some higher purpose. They thought they could excuse all the wrong things they did for the right purpose.” I hate that thought but it’s true. A gentle answer turns away wrath!
