some of the short stories in here make no sense at all. like, i can't make sense of what she was getting at and then they just cut off. or just the horror element gave me the ick (pearleen). but some are actually interesting and can be dug into. wish i liked all of them, but ah well i do like the reflections of womanhood being used here with that little supernatural twist

The protagonist’s obsessed with how her body looks to others. Men always make comments of what we shouldn’t care about. Body hair. What a meaningless struggle when we already have to deal with so many other complex details of ourselves as women. Ingrown hair ends up to be an important creation of the mc’s. She’s finally the author of sth.

Saying goodbye to a former, gentler, younger life. Being an adult and having to parent your own mother is what changes when you grow old. That becomes your whole life. You don’t know what the feeling of a soft touch is anymore.

Protagonist’s jealousy of her boss’s happiness and perfect life takes all the space in her thoughts. She’s also obsessed by the “black spot” where ppl have had car accidents for years. She can’t stop hearing a “beep” in her car, telling her the seatbelt isn’t on, though hers is; she’s so troubled by all this that she doesn’t realise. She’s not alone in the car.
