The ending was really sweet, normally I’m not a fan of a flash forward but in this case it felt really well done. 🥹 Also, the discussion questions at the end were hysterical.

I really did not expect a very serious and sober book about PTSD but I am VERY HERE FOR IT

AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHH TRYING TO BE WORTHY OF EACH OTHER! LEARNING FROM PAST MISTAKES! GROWN-UP CONVERSATIONS ABOUT FEELINGS!!!!! of course, the problem with taking six books on vacation and really enjoying three of them is that you’re only going to leave three behind, which leaves room in the suitcase for only three new books. hmph.

This is easily and by far my favorite thing Alexis Hall has ever done and I am feeling sososososo much. How can my least favorite absolutely-cannot-stand, will-never-read, ultimate-betrayal plot (letting your loved ones think you’ve died) be so tender and so full of hope and so utterly gently careful with and respectful toward emotions??? Also the CLOTHES and if there is not tender glove removal I will EAT MY HAT.

I LOVE BOOKS THAT ARE JUST TALKING ABOUT FEELINGS!! FEELINGS AS PLOT ARC!!! I mean, honestly, I hate back-from-the-dead plots sososososo much that I also almost can’t bear this book BUT it is so tender so far that I have to hope it will also appropriately handle those emotions.
