I am rereading this while reading the tumblr posts that were written at the same time as it was being written.

I really need this.

Gotta admit, I'd be all over this ending... if not for the earlier portion of the chapter. It's a me thing, but I'm really not feeling the being an absolute ass then a few minutes later being all "okay let's cuddle it's all good now." Kinda feels toxic and unearned to me. Which is a shame because I've been rooting for these precious, clueless idjits.

I think this is supposed to be the payoff but honestly it's just making me frownyface? Like jfc Vinny when did you become a jackass? Stop. Relax. Pay attention. There was a misunderstanding and you took something the wrong way. Stop being mad at the person you misunderstood based on something you think you perceived. 😑

But I'm very sensitive to people being unfairly mean/mad over a misconception, so...

Someone needs to give these characters some spelling and text etiquette lessons because they're too damn old to be typing like this in texts. It was 2015 when this was written and one phone is confirmed to have Candy Crush; there are no excuses for typing like they're using T9 on ancient Nokia bricks.

Author's Note: Fournier refers to his back-up goalie as a pomme de terre (potato) which I have been informed is an ableist slur in English referring to people with Down's Syndrome. He isn't using it in that context

That's news to me. Only ever heard it as a lighthearted reference to Irish folk, low quality electronics, oneself playfully, or occasionally as a racial thing for Mexican-Americans. 🤷‍♀️
