Status Updates From ony

I'm enjoying this slice-of-life story so far. However, even though it's short it's taking me a while to read because the sentences are awkward in English. I often have to re-read them a few times. I don't know if this is an artistic choice or the translator should look for a new job. I like it though!

I love how this book uses food to emphasize mood/tone/circumstance. However, it's gotten pretty hard to get through on account of the minimalistic prose. It doesn't tell you what to think (and I rather like it that way), but it leaves everything bland. It's like recalling a melancholy memory, one you just had to be there to feel. And I struggle to relate.

I dont want to be so bored, but i am. going to stop for today. maybe i might be in the mood for melancholy tomorrow.

The two main characters are finally given names, yet I think I will still stutter at recognizing who that name belongs to. It's always been 'she' and 'her mother'. I love the play with pronouns, especially when 'Regitze's son' shows up. It's simple, mostly simple book and simple ideas, but it's so distant and perfect for tone.
