... I know authors can write whatever they want, but discovering that this book was written by a white woman is really, really throwing me. The heroine in this book was born enslaved and then brought to England by her white father who died and left her in the care of his uncle, a Lord. The book has a bit of a mystery and is written in a very engaging way, but the racism is there and I am uncomfortable.
