I'm struggling to get through this one. This is the first in the series, but it reads like this is several books into the series with quite a lot of prior events that happened and so far it's just the MC is telling you about her life up to this point. It's basically a dump of the MC's history but with no context, and I find it just uninteresting filler. Not sure if I'm interested enough to finish.

Cute so far, but...at one point, the MC is looking at her cat, Jasmine, in her carrier and how the cat's eyes are "lavender, the same shade as the flower bearing her name." I'm not plant expert, but aren't jasmine flowers white?
