Status Updates From The Christmas Pig

Imaginative and heartwarming! Although this will forever alter how I feel about losing things… 😆

CP hugs him and pretends it is to keep warm. The plan is to sleep and find their way to the city of Mist in the morning. Jack is putting the clues together and he says he would have called him CP which is what I did from the very beginning of my narrations. Another CP has forgotten that he made Jack promise that he would give CP to his stepsister. CP has insomnia. Another confirmation. Yes, lots of clues here.

CP tells Jack what the Loser does to the ones he grabs. He eats the part that is alivened and he puts the bits that he likes on himself. Jack asks about what happens to the physical part of the angel who is in the upper world. Once her alivened part is sucked up, she will vanish. She will be dead. His fears for DP and the broken angel overwhelm him and Jack begins to cry. I wonder if his tears will do something.

Ch. 36 The chapter title makes me think of Death’s sting, thorns and thistles, swords, fangs, spindles, needles, pins, etc. I wonder what JKR will do with it. CP pulls Jack behind a clump of thistles. Imagine that for protection! Here’s my theory. DP was eaten by the Loser and his spirit is CP who has come back to guide Jack. Technically, that means DP is dead and his ghost is a guide. The double is one.

He begins to pull up things one by one to examine them. CP tells them to move and he grabs Jack’s hand. Jack is disoriented by the beams from the Loser’s eyes and he has to be dragged by CP. Jack worries that Compass is missing and he hears the fists begging for mercy. Jack hates her scared voice and he goes after it. He also tries to help the broken angel. The Loser seizes her. CP tells im to run.

Ch. 35 The Loser has arrived. He reminds me of the Terminator in how he searches and terrifies everyone in the Waste of the Unlamented. He is so tall the top of his head scrapes along the bottom of the sky. His body was covered in millions of things that come from the bodies he has eaten which is why he looked so tall. His howl is a combination of fury and anguish which makes you wonder what that means.

He has a different perspective of her now and he feels sorry for her. The ear is busy sharing secrets because he likes to spy on people. Then he reveals that Jack and CP are the ones where are wanted. Suddenly, the Loser arrive and Compass says, “The hunt’s afoot.” It’s night time. Diana hunts at night!!!

Jack is shocked to recognize the owner of the fists that love to punch things. Then he learns the backstory as to why his stepsister is so angry and why she has changed. She is jealous of her stepbrother who seems to have it all. Lashing out makes her feel better (CM Vol. 5 Ch. 1) This reminds me of Mansoul and Ourselves where parts of the body connect to habits. Also, what Jesus says about the millstone.

I have a feeling about CP’s true identity!
Ch. 34 The chapter makes me think of the jellybeans in HP. Yuck! Also, CM. Compass and the four pull together (Jack, CP, the angel, Blue Bunny). Potty humor is not my thing. These bad habits are launching disgusting things at them. They are bits of humans shed when they got rid of their bad habits. I guess when you forget about the habit and it’s no longer loved it’s lost.

Jack feels terrible because he is one of the reasons why nobody misses her. Toby knocked over the tree and, when he couldn’t find them, he chewed up the angel. CP comforts the angel and lets her know that he is a replacement and someone might find her and fix her (Jack?). Jack is learning that there are consequences to his actions.

Ch. 32 The shapes look like a mother and child (WOW) but Jack does not trust his senses anymore. Compass accosts them. Out of the shadows comes a Christmas angel hiding its face and blue bunny. The face is severely damaged and she explains that a dog got her. Suddenly, Jack recognizes her--she is the Christmas angel his grandmother had bought to replace his toilet paper angel. She explains she was a replacement.

Compass has found new ways to help guide people: stories with morals and mottos. Hahahahaha! When she shares them, they make no sense! It’s like the nonsense of Wonderland. Jack and CP pretend to like them. They hear a moaning and it is the pain of human souls. Jack is here because of pain, isn’t he? The moaning is quite terrifying and then they see some frightening looking shapes

Some dangerous creatures live here--things that were thrown away not lost. CP’s stomach rattles (the beans). Compass is very merry and wild and she does remind me of a wildman. She is rusting away in a jungle under a banana tree! This is like a mirror world: the physical thing is still in the “real” world but they are also here in the Land of the Lost. So, it does feel like an upside down world.

Compass says that the Loser is wrong. Whatever is lost is lost and whatever is found is found. That sounds like election. LOL I’ve been thinking about Pajama Boy whose superpower is sleeping. It’s so medieval to imply that everyman is dreaming!!! Well-played, JKR! Compass rolls like a wheel and travels very fast. It’s hard to keep up. Jack’s feet are sore from running on ice.

In A Christmas Carol, a child, a wildman, and the grim reaper guided Scrooge. Whoa! So it’s a parody because the order is flipped! Now, here CP seems to be Virgil and I wonder if at some point someone else will guide Jack (near the end of the waste). Poem was his first guide, now it is Compass, what next. The first two seem to be pointing toward truth.

Ch. 31 Compass’s direction is slightly askew.

Compass loves adventure and she is both merry and mad. She promises to take them to the gates of the City of the Mist, but they have to find a way in. So is she like the guide in Purgatory. Poem warns that, once Christmas Eve is over and midnight chimes, they will never leave. They are at the foot of the mountain. This is Purgatory. LOL

Legend has it that a solid silver spoon dug out the tunnel because he thought he was too good to live in Bother It’s Gone. At night he worked on the tunnel (Count of Monte Cristo). He did not realize that the heart gives a thing it’s value, how much it is loved. He reached the waste and was never seen again. They pull a rope and a door in the rock opens. Compass is definitely mad.

Ch. 50 Jack thinks the city of the Mist is the place to go next. They have like Corrie Ten Boom: they help some hide for respite or escape. Poem has a friend named Compass who’s a bit mad, but she loves to help people cross the Waste of the Unlamented on foot. It’s dangerous because the Loser lives in the center of it and hunts for surplus at night. Poem opens the trap door under tha carpet (of course, there’s one).

Pretense calls Poem lies because it’s all made up. She states that great poems are truth. Poem is an early draft with many crossouts and corrections. Her owner mourned her loss and swore she could write no more, but eventually she did. P&P meet in the city of Mist which is the place Addie prevented the gold watch from saying. They hear a noise and the search party is a few doors down. They must go.
