"The Mary Shelley Club" reminds me of the book "I Know What You Did Last Summer." Both books have a main group who has a secret they don't want getting out and there is one person targeting them to expose it. Also, the person targeting both groups is a hooded person chasing after them with a hook. "When he looked up, Sim's heart almost stopped. It was a Black Hoodie. Holding up a big-ass hook" (Moldavsky 218).
