Ah, nope, definitely needed to read the first book first. Didn't realize this was a reverse harem series following the same characters.

The synopsis said this could be considered a standalone, but right off the bat it felt like I was thrown into the middle of a story. Zorin already knows Kaia? And Kaia already has a lifemate? This is middle-of-a-story stuff.
