The H is a bit of a beta hero. This is mostly brought out in his dealings with Freddy and Fanny. They are encroaching, presumptuous, and unpleasant. He should have been kicked them out. They are basically guests who wore out their welcome long ago. But for some reason everyone tiptoes around them.

So far have a H with a savior complex. He is very kind though not a total dupe. The h history I don’t understand. She sounds like she was a cut. Father own plantation? In Jamaica. Brought up by definitely cut uncle and aunt. However had a season. Not sure of her age or how long married to jerk husband. And why was Danny in charge of ball and not her? That made no sense.

I am enjoying the writing. Definitely getting a Heyer vibe.

Loving the hero. I hope the heroine gets more characterization soon.
