Status Updates From Dominic Barberi

All is being brought to a close, as Father Dominic reaches the high-point of his missionary vocation with the conversion of John Henry Newman.

I finally see why Newman sought Father Dominic out when he made his decision. He like everybody else could recognise a Saint.

In England, and yet paralysed by the caution of the English Catholics. This last chapter interestingly began with a quote that stated that the Second Spring (in Newman's words) actually began with the arrival of Father Dominic at Folkeston.

And here begins the mission to England.

Now the provincial of the Order and England looms ever closer.

A serious writer and a venerable theologian. Now I shall feel compelled to find books of his sermons.

Preacher and teacher. Is there anything this man did not excel at?

A great light in Father Dominic's life was his devotion to the Blessed Virgin. It's almost impossible to be part of an Apostolic church without that.

Postulancy and novitiate...

Interesting. I hadn't known that Father Dominic was a visionary. Not quite to the degree that Padre Pio was, but not very far off!
