ch 12: "from the first time Darius began having doubts"
When exactly was that?!? We've been in his mind this whole time and he hadn't expressed a single shred of doubt. There was maybe noticing River flinch at the CO (82% in book), but that doesn't count cause Darius let it go and didn't think about it again. And speaking of, why didn't River say anything? What happened to no secrets and complete openness in an op?

Two thoughts:
1.CD hasn’t been my favourite with execution, but well done for keeping me hooked and coming back for more
2.That said, I resent that this book exists. Gray and Darius made a promise to those two boys by adopting them. They didn’t specifically tell the boys, but they told each other that they were done with the dangerous stuff. It would’ve been better if last book ended with a HEA instead of this.
