Status Updates From The Blood of the Spear (The...

My enjoyment of this story definitely improved greatly after things got kicked off (which didn't take very long). I have still struggled to really connect with any of the characters and feel invested in their adventure, but the world and it's surrounding lore are all deeply fascinating and pretty creative. I think the way the last several hours of this book go will ultimately decide how it lands for me overall.

The last third of the book saved it from a 2 star rating I intended to give.

This, frankly, got off to a pretty rough start. There are some different examples of the bullying trope that are just so absurdly over the top and annoying in their execution. One of the brothers I like, one I'm not too keen on and the same goes for the two female leads. With a couple exceptions, a lot of the side characters kind of blend together. Thankfully, the action picks up fast and the plot is really moving.
