This book has the right marketing, but is not delivering. This is meant to be an inclusive and feminist spiritual perspective on Indian goddess archetypes, but feels more like catchy titles that basically sum up how to exist in a patriarchy.
Sorry this will be my last negative update! 😩

What I like: myth retellings and political/current news examples.
What I don’t like: Simple conclusions (“When you are sexually accosted… roar” is one subheading in a chapter.)

Ok so this is written for a different reader in mind (not me). It is meant to reach a wider audience, so I am going to try to read this with that in mind, instead of feeling frustrated 😂

This would be a good lecture or podcast. As a reader, I am feeling unsatisfied with the writing. It feels a little too casual spitballing. I have different standards for writing than speaking, and while I love a conversational and accessible tone, I need something to challenge my brain and to sink in to the sentences. This may be a skim read.

I don’t think I can do it anymore. It feels like I’m reading the bible that’s just filled with stories and then tries to relate it back to the reader. Unfortunately this will be a dnf.
It’s sad because I had high hopes 😪

Although the stories at the beginning of the chapters are taken from Hinduism, the lessons after are motivating

Picked up this book cause I want to connect with my feminine side more. But right now it feels a bit too religious for me to connect with the content
