Status Updates From Songs of Irie

Not many books in the past have made me cry. This author has accomplished hitting me with such sorrow within the first two chapters.

A very promising start. I genuinely love when an author effectively writes various dialects. It can be a wonderful addition to representation.

Steeped in terror, the disparity between the upper and lower classes, and resulting violence spilling between the tribal lines and political loyalties, is succinctly set up as the constant backdrop to peoples' lives in Jamaica during the civil war of the 1970s.

I’m only 39 pages in and I’m already crying 😭😭
