He was stubborn as a rock; once something he had set in his mind, it could not be changed, no matter what. That was where his nickname Gatchin came from.

So copper's name came from the great astronomer and mathematician, Nicolaus Copernicus. When copper thought of himself, he was only a molecule among the sea of human society. This way of thinking was like Copernicus's philosophy, where you removed the sense of self to look at things outside of your own perspective, so you could glimpse truth.
