Status Updates From Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Supergirl is introduced to the story as someone clearly powerful and determined, yet a total mess. She is drunk in a bar and still drinking while she’s fighting an enemy. An uncommon way for the titular superhero to be introduced to the comic, but it sets the stage for understanding her character and growth throughout the story.

Off the jump, the first thing I noticed was just how bright and warm yet ominous the coloring is. Matching with the art, the first panel has purple clouds swarming around a giant pinkish red sun in front of the scene, a father’s murder.
