I've really struggled getting through this and I used to be a massive Smarty Marty fan.
Either it's too dense or I am? I just can't get into it

Ach. I LOVED Amis as a younger man. I have his autograph. The exact same reasons why I loved him when he was an enfant terrible are the same reasons (give or take) why I find him a slog now.
So verbose and dense (though that could be me?) After a day's work, I cannot reasonably follow his twisting sesquipedalian style??
Maybe I'm dumber now?
