Status Updates From 太岁 [Tài Suì]

I started this January 25th of this year and have 8 days to read 283 pages (of 3,174!) 😬

If any of my friends (or potential new friends!) ever decide to read this, please let me know and I will buddy read with you! This novel is unlike anything I’ve read and I cannot wait to reread it one day 🥰.

Priest is SO talented with world building and storytelling. I’m not even done and I can’t wait to reread this 💜

This novel really deserves to be published and marketed to fantasy readers.

Spiritual beasts, a Cauldron of Nine Dragons and an evil cultivators alliance?! Makes me miss The Legendary Master’s Wife 😭

Priest never fails when it comes to well written female characters. In addition to Turan from The Defectives/Can Ci Pin and Gu Yuexi from Drowning Sorrows in Raging Fire, there are at least four in this novel that I love so far. So refreshing to see women with lots of depth and central to the plot!

I’m in book 4 of 5 and it’s almost getting to the point of being unputdownable for me.

Love steampunk x xianxia. Iron replacing spiritual stones needed for things to make life easier for common people is 🤌 Fragile system of the cultivators’ control breaking down!

Also, 100 pages read but only 1% progress 🦥

Never thought I would read the words bald donkey in another novel after Copper Coins but here we are!

Always comes down to greed and desire for money, power, and prestige. These cultivators trying to ascend to immortality are the worst. They do not care about the common people and spend so much time in seclusion. But what is it all for, what’s the point? After they become immortal, then what? Because they certainly don’t help the common people then either…

Going to start updating my progress to hold myself accountable for finishing this novel before the end of the year. Started in January and still haven't finished. It's quite long and I've put it aside for other novels too many times.

If you like fantasy, especially xianxia and don't need romance in your fantasy this novel is for you!! The world building alone is incredible.

This one is another Panguan-kind-of novel for me, where I absolutely loved the first half, and then stopped caring towards the last third. I'll probably finish it, but eh...
