I do feel this history is strangely balanced. 200 pages have covered the time from 55BC until 1914, the next 70 will do 1914-2020 (when this book was published,)

I feel that the author has a lot more to say about recent history than any of the previous periods. We've reached the 1850s and the final 170ish years covers as many pages as the first 1,500+ years.
