Status Updates From Private Notebooks: 1914-1916

Things are progressiiiiiiiinggg👀👀😗 — as an aside, I’ve never known anyone to log their self-stimulation happenings within their personal diary entries but to each their own! Haha

Wittgenstein’s diary started off on a positive/hopeful note (as he felt very encouraged by his interactions with the kind army recruiters), and has quickly veered to be less so while he tries his best to keep a good head on his shoulders while being a negative work environment/very uncomfortable living conditions during his service in the Austrian Army (a position he volunteered for) on the eastern front in WW1.

Ludwig Wittgenstein it appears i have grown quite fond of you

Except towards the very end, there is little for those looking for philosophy here, but much to be found for those fascinated by Wittgenstein the person. Most touching: How clearly in love he was with his friend David Pinsent. Most surprising: How obsessed he was with how often he was aroused and masturbated, all while his life was very much in danger.
