Tim Waggoner - Sorrow Road. All traffic and electricity on the highway suddenly stops, the sky changes color, and myriad eyes appear in it. People vomit black ooze, bugs, bones. People go mad. The cars merge and warp into a massive tower. The trees turn to glass, the grass turns into white blood sucking tentacles. People marked with a cognitohazardous brand bring survivors to the tower for brainwashing.

Time Flies by Pete Rawlik. Protagonist is a CIA agent who's the bodyguard and lover of a Yith. They attend an event on the hotel roof with many other Yith - a viewing party of the devastation wrought by a 9.2 earthquake in the Pacific. Apart from the death and destruction from the tsunamis, the earthquake has breached R'lyeh. On top of this, once the Yith depart, the corpses they'd been possessing will zombify.

1: Around The Corner: Protagonist, born into a cult which was wiped out Move-style, was deprogrammed and raised by relatives. Now an adult divorcee in an apartment, helping an elderly upstairs neighbor when the elevator is down leads him to meet a neighbor whose "family", a similar cult, performs rituals which pierce dimensional barriers in some vague way and make him remember his childhood. Boring. No apocalypse.
